If you’re an artist, illustrator or photographer and want to make a website to display your artwork, my recommendation is to use WordPress. You will need a domain name, web hosting, WordPress and theme. This is what to do…
1. Get a domain name
The best solution and the cheapest is to buy a domain name from a company called Domaincheck, an excellent company who will help you. Domain name will cost you 10.49 for .co.uk per year, other art related domain names you could get is
.com for £13.99 per year
.photography for £18.00 per year
.gallery for £18.00 per year
.design for £44.00 per year
.photos for £18.00 per year
2. Buy Web Hosting
You will need web hosting, from Domaincheck, their telephone number is 0191 261 2252. They offer three types of hosting; the Basic hosting does not come with a database; you will need the Advanced hosting is ideal for WordPress, and the hosting package has a WordPress which you can install in a one-click.
3. Build your website with WordPress
The best option for artists to make a website, I would recommend WordPress. I have done my site in WordPress using a Divi by Elegant Themes – Powerful, Flexible, Beautiful. The Divi Themes makes sense to me. So if you are new to building website, I would highly recommend this theme to you. It costs sixty-nine dollars a year.
Once you have your WordPress site and DIVI theme working you will be able to upload your artwork, I alway use Projects part of DIVI theme. Take a look at my art gallery.
